The Secrets and Easter Eggs of Call of Duty: World at War Zombies Mode
After America gains Peleliu, the Battle of Okinawa occurs on the Pacific, where the Petty Officer Locke, in a PBY Catalina flying boat, takes part in a raid on three merchant ships. On their way back to base, another Catalina, codenamed Hammerhead, is destroyed by Japanese Zeroes, leaving Locke and his crew alone. The US fleet is assaulted, replicating Operation Ten-Go. Locke's PBY, the only PBY or plane near enough to come to immediate aid, works to rescue as many American sailors as possible by fighting off Japanese PT boats and kamikaze planes. With the PBY almost completely destroyed, more US aircraft arrive and drive off the remaining Zeroes. In the following mission, Miller's squad makes a ground assault on Okinawa, clearing out the Japanese from machine gun bunkers to allow American tanks to progress. With the battle almost won, the Americans storm Shuri Castle amidst mortar shelling and massive banzai charges. Once inside, they encounter Japanese soldiers surrendering. However, when Roebuck and Polonsky go to search them, they reveal concealed grenades under their clothes, at which point Miller is presented with the choice of saving either Roebuck or Polonsky. The remaining American troops arrive to assist the squad and engage the remaining Japanese soldiers in a battle in the castle center. After Miller calls in air strikes on two buildings, the Americans take Shuri Castle, crushing the last bastion of Japanese resistance in the Pacific War.
Call of Duty: World at War also features a new game mode, Nazi Zombies. After having completed the campaign, watched the credits(which can simply be skipped), or being connected to online, players can automatically start a game of Nazi Zombies in the map Nacht der Untoten. The player must defend against waves of Nazi zombies by buying new weapons, unlocking new areas, and boarding up windows. Boarding up windows or damaging zombies gives points which can be used to unlock access to new areas and buy weapons. Sometimes, zombies drop power-ups such as Nuke, Max Ammo, Double Points, and Insta-Kill. The three map packs have brought new content such as the Pack-A-Punch Machine that upgrades certain weapons, Perk-a-Cola machines that give perks to players for a certain amount of points, and a new enemy, the Hellhounds. A new Nazi Zombies map comes with every multiplayer map pack. Nacht der Untoten came with the game, Verrückt was in Map Pack 1, Shi No Numa in Map Pack 2 and Der Riese in Map Pack 3. The World at War maps were ported over in the Hardened and Prestige versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops, and feature Black Ops cold war weapons as well as some of the original World at War weapons (e.g. Kar98k, Thompson, FG42, etc.). The Rezurrection DLC made the World at War maps available for purchase.

The narrative for the campaign mode focuses on the Pacific and Eastern Front theaters of World War II, involving the United States, Empire of Japan, Soviet Union, and Nazi Germany. It is told from the perspectives of Marine Raider Private C. Miller, US Navy Petty Officer Locke and Red Army soldier Private Dimitri Petrenko, and is based on several historical battles. The multiplayer component of the game contains various game modes and a leveling system that allows the player to unlock additional weapons and rewards as they progress, similar to Call of Duty 4 and repeated in many following Call of Duty entries. Vehicles, in the form of tanks, that players can control appear on certain multiplayer maps. The game also contains downloadable content called "map packs", which can be purchased online. A new feature to the series was the addition of a cooperative mode, which supports up to two players locally and four players online, as well as the introduction of the Zombies mode.
The music for Call of Duty: World at War was composed by Sean Murray. He had worked with Brian Tuey, Treyarch's audio director, on True Crime: New York City, the sequel to the first True Crime: Streets of LA. Murray said Tuey "knew I would bring a fresh approach to Call of Duty: World at War". Adam Levenson, the audio director of Activision, was called in to help them. Murray said that he wanted to make the music more fun and intense, but also "a specific musical path that follows the psyche of the gameplay".[21]
On March 18, 2009, Activision and Treyarch announced that downloadable content (DLC) was under development for World at War, titled Map Pack 1. This first installment of DLC was released on March 19, 2009, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, while the Windows version received the DLC at a later date. The map pack includes three new multiplayer maps and one new Nazi Zombies map, entitled "Zombie Verrückt" (German: zombie crazy). The map is based on the multiplayer map Asylum, in turn based on the asylum in the campaign mission Ring of Steel. The map includes new weapons and power-ups intended to expand the experience. Players can turn on a power generator that reunites both sides of the map and enables "Perk-a-Cola" machines, which have been featured in every subsequent Nazi Zombies map.[33] The new multiplayer map called "Nightfire" takes places at night in the streets of a bombed-out area of Berlin. The "Knee Deep" map is in the jungle of Peleliu and contains fortified huts and streams. "Station" is located in a ruined underground train station in Berlin featuring subway cars and hidden passages.[34] Reports stated that Map Pack 1 sold over 1 million copies in the first week of availability, setting an Xbox Live record for the number of downloads in a week.[35]
Call of Duty: World at War Zombies was released for the iPhone and iPod Touch on November 16, 2009, by Activision, Treyarch, and Ideaworks Game Studio.[48] The game is based on the Nazi Zombies mode in Call of Duty: World at War, and featured a tutorial map and maps called Nacht der Untoten, Shi No Numa and Der Riese, with a downloadable map named Zombie Verrückt.[49][50][51] In 2010, an HD iPad version was released with enhanced graphics and the Zombie Verrückt map free to play without buying, but without the Shi No Numa and Der Riese maps. The game was removed from the app store in 2018.
There seems to be some trouble balancing the maps for the different modes of play, however. The capture points in War, in particular, don't make much strategic sense. There's no obvious tactical reason to capture them and they're often difficult to defend as a result. One of the capture points in Makin, perhaps the weakest map anyway, is just tucked away in the corner. It's hard to imagine why an army would need to hold this otherwise pointless patch of land, since it offers no obvious benefits in battle. Rather than holding elevated positions, or assaulting a strategically useful building fortified by enemy troops, you're often left with the feeling that the capture points were picked at random on maps designed for more general deathmatch play.

THANK JEZUZ SOMEBODY AGREES! BBC2 Has an Updated engine while COD has been runing on a heavily modded quake engine for the last 11 years.Little kids don't know the concept of a real game because oll they play is COD. I know what a game is like for say Counter-Strike that was MOD but became a retail and is still successful to this day. COD like mw2 is failing so hard BF3 wil kill it with a simple tap with its pinky. We need more good games like BBC2 or Counter-Strike not these so called "Realistic Great games" when they can't even use thier own engine!
A secret M1911 variant called the "Holy Pistol" can be used in the Nazi Zombies map "Nacht Der Untoten" on the PC, by using the "Give All" PC command. It is a visually-identical M1911 that fires high-explosive grenades, and as such is similar to the upgraded M1911s obtained by putting the standard pistol into the "Pack-a-Punch" machines found in the Zombies maps of later games (although these also had an altered appearance).
The Thompson M1A1 fitted with a Cutts compensator is the primary submachine gun used by American forces and is Sgt. Roebuck's main weapon. In-game, the weapon is visibly modeled with a 30-round magazine, but it only holds 20 rounds, while the "Round Drum" attachment doubles this to 40. Thompson drums did not hold 40 (unless you underloaded it), the 40 round capacity is due to the game simply doubling the base capacity when the extended magazine attachment is used. Additionally the M1A1 physically cannot be loaded with a drum magazine - this is a feature of the older M1928 Thompson. The Create-a-Class icon shows the Thompson without the Cutts compensator. It is slightly anachronistic to the mission "Semper Fi" taking place in August 1942; during that time, the earlier Thompson M1 was in use, while the M1A1 was adopted two months later. It is also anachronistic for the pre-October 1942 multiplayer maps.
A full-size Double-barreled shotgun appears in the subway, lying around in the offices. Like the Winchester Model 1897, it is devastating at close range, capable of blowing off heads and limbs. When firing, the weapon incorrectly ejects a spent cartridge (and to top it off, it is a rifle round as opposed to a shotgun shell), which is impossible with real double-barreled shotguns as they have no ejection port and need to have their shells removed manually (although some are capable of automatically ejecting shells once the barrels have been broken open). When the weapon is reloaded, it acts as if none of the shells have been ejected and any empty cartridges (this time being proper shotgun shells) will still be inside the gun and are removed manually. The Create-a-Class description in multiplayer states that the weapon is American, although it is found in Eastern Front missions in the campaign.
The Arisaka Type 99 is the main rifle for the Japanese. Banzai attackers attach Model 30 bayonets to their Arisakas, which are then called "Arisaka Bayonet." A scoped version can also be found in the missions "Semper Fi", "Burn 'em Out" and "Blowtorch and Corkscrew". The weapon is modelled on the earlier Type 99 rifles as it has the monopod, flip up anti-aircraft rear sight, protected front sight, and a plum shaped bolt handle.
